چکیده

A family of lithium-ion-conducting composite polymer-glass electrolytes containing the glass composition 14Li2O–9Al2O3–38TiO2– 39P2O5 (abbreviated as (LiAlTiP)xOy) with high ionic conductivity, an excellent electrochemical stability range, and high compatibility with lithium insertion anodes is described. An optimized composition has a room temperature conductivity of 1:7 10 4 S cm , an Liþ transference number of 0.39, and an electrochemical stability window to þ5.1 V versus Li/Liþ. It also has good interfacial stability under both open-circuit and lithium metal plating–stripping conditions and provides good shelf-life. # 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

INTERFACE-MEDIATED ELECTROCHEMICAL EFFECTS IN LITHIUM/POLYMER-CERAMIC CELLS (Postprint)

The paper presents and discusses a method to achieve beneficial electrochemical effects mediated by interfaces in an ionic conducting polymer matrix. The beneficial effects include enhanced ionic transport, catalysis of anodic oxidation reaction, and stabilization of the lithium-electrolyte interface in lithium-based electrochemical cells. Polyethylene oxide (PEO) doped with LiN(SO2CF2CF3)2 (Li...

Voltage increase of aqueous lithium-ion batteries by Li-ion conducting Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 glass-ceramic

In this research, a lithium ion conducting lithium aluminum germanium phosphate (LAGP) glass-ceramic with a formula of Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 was synthesized by melt-quenching method and subsequent crystallization at 850 °C for 8 h. The prepared glass-ceramic was characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The XRD patterns exhib...

Interface Properties between Lithium Metal and a Composite Polymer Electrolyte of PEO18Li(CF3SO2)2N-Tetraethylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether

The electrochemical properties of a composite solid polymer electrolyte, consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (TEGDME) was examined as a protective layer between lithium metal and a water-stable lithium ion-conducting glass ceramic of Li1+x+y(Ti,Ge)2-xAlxP3-ySiyO12 (LTAP). The lithium ion conductivit...

Compliant glass-polymer hybrid single ion-conducting electrolytes for lithium batteries.

Despite high ionic conductivities, current inorganic solid electrolytes cannot be used in lithium batteries because of a lack of compliance and adhesion to active particles in battery electrodes as they are discharged and charged. We have successfully developed a compliant, nonflammable, hybrid single ion-conducting electrolyte comprising inorganic sulfide glass particles covalently bonded to a...

Cross-linked Composite Gel Polymer Electrolyte using Mesoporous Methacrylate-Functionalized SiO2 Nanoparticles for Lithium-Ion Polymer Batteries

Liquid electrolytes composed of lithium salt in a mixture of organic solvents have been widely used for lithium-ion batteries. However, the high flammability of the organic solvents can lead to thermal runaway and explosions if the system is accidentally subjected to a short circuit or experiences local overheating. In this work, a cross-linked composite gel polymer electrolyte was prepared and...
